The Designer |
The
Eagle's Bluff championship 18-hole golf course,
designed in 1998, was the culmination of the
38-year career of noted golf course designer
Carlton Gipson. Three times named among GolfWeek's
"Courses of Distinction," the course has been
rated as the 6th-most difficult in Texas (rating
by The Dallas Morning News).
Gipson was proud of the fact that he was able
to preserve the natural East Texas forest
setting of Eagle's Bluff, and although
he did not live to see its completion, he
considered it to be his greatest work as a
golf course designer. This is an impressive
statement, considering that he is considered
one of the best golf course architects ever,
having designed many award-winning golf courses
around the nation. |
